How is an upper eyelid lift performed?
During an upper eyelid lift, the epidermis is first separated from the subcutaneous tissue and the muscles. We then remove the excess skin, a small section of muscle, and fatty tissue. We use special, extremely thin sutures, and the suture is placed directly within the crease of the eyelid. This ensures that no scars will be visible once the area has healed.
The stitches are removed after 6–7 days, and you’ll be able to see the first results as early as 1–2 months later. The final result is achieved after about 6 months.
Is there a way to correct eyelid issues without surgery?
We regularly see patients who have undergone laser or ultrasound eyelid surgery and are very dissatisfied with the results. If the drooping of the eyelids is indeed severe, nothing else will help—only surgical intervention.
Eyelid Surgery: Coverage by Health Insurance
Health insurance will cover part of the cost of an eyelid lift in only one case: when the procedure is medically necessary. For example, if drooping eyelids are so severe that they impair your vision, your health insurance may cover part of the surgery costs. Please note: We treat only patients with private insurance or those who pay out of pocket.
