Children with protruding ears or other ear deformities often suffer greatly as a result. Unwanted attention and teasing make these little ones sad and can lead to feelings of inferiority. But it doesn’t have to be that way at all! At our cosmetic surgery practice in downtown Berlin, we offer ear correction for children. Starting at age 6, young patients can have their protruding ears corrected by us. However, we don’t just correct „protruding ears“; we also treat the following issues:

When should children with protruding ears have them corrected?

We perform ear correction procedures on children at our aesthetic and plastic surgery practice in Berlin starting at age 6. By this age, the outer ears are almost fully developed. The healing process is generally very quick for our young patients. After ear pinning, the ears not only look natural but also feel that way. Once the healing process is complete, your child will soon have forgotten about the procedure. Even upon closer inspection, no scars will be visible—they are hidden behind the ear and fade completely over time.

Protruding Ears: How Is Ear Pinning Performed in Children?

In the Traditional, surgical ear correction The procedure involves working on the ear cartilage. An incision is made behind the outer ear, and the cartilage is reshaped. The child can go home just a few hours after the procedure and must wear a special bandage for about 8 days. After that, the stitches are removed, and it is recommended to wear a headband for another 6 weeks.

In the Ear Correction Without Surgery We use the thread method. This involves placing special sutures that run beneath the skin—allowing us to adjust the position of the ear. After this procedure, the child can also leave the office immediately. The bandage can be removed after just 2 days and is replaced with a headband.
